Delaware
is situated in the center of the state of Ohio, about 20 miles north
of Columbus. Delaware was founded in 1808, incorporated in 1816, and
is the county seat of Delaware County. Over the years Delaware became a
vibrant community with enough industry to provide work for its
residents and the surrounding area. With local merchants and a wide
variety of stores, people were attracted from the surrounding area.
The
shops stayed open in the evening and the sidewalks were packed with
folks doing their weekly shopping. Mass transit was available via many
local railroads, electric street cars and a bustling bus system. Maybe
old Delaware was ahead of its time, life seemed easier then and possibly
better. But Delaware is still the best!
